Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what Highlightly collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is a practical launch version and may be refined as the product and legal setup mature.

1. Information We Collect

We collect account information such as your email address and authentication details, product data such as brand kits, logo uploads, social handles, preferences, saved sessions, imported source material, extracted content, captions, and generated graphics metadata, plus technical data such as device, browser, IP address, logs, and usage events needed to operate and secure the service.

2. Source Content

When you paste text, submit a URL, upload a document, search for articles, or process a YouTube link, we process that material to extract useful quotes, statistics, hooks, key points, screenshots, page previews, captions, and visual assets. Some source content may be sent to AI, scraping, document-processing, or hosting providers so the requested feature can work.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to provide Highlightly, authenticate users, process credits and subscriptions, generate requested outputs, save brand kits and sessions, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, improve product quality, send transactional messages, and respond to support requests.

4. Storage and Retention

Brand kits and eligible saved sessions may sync to your account. Large screenshots, page images, and media blobs may be stored locally in your browser. Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, and operational reasons. You can ask us to delete your account data unless we must keep limited records for legitimate business or legal requirements.

5. Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Highlightly. Depending on the feature you use, data may be processed by providers that help with:

  • Account authentication, database, and secure file storage
  • Application hosting, infrastructure, and performance monitoring
  • Public web extraction, document processing, and screenshot generation
  • AI-assisted extraction, captioning, and graphic generation
  • Stock media search when you request it
  • Checkout, subscriptions, billing, tax, and payment records
  • Transactional email delivery and customer support
  • Error monitoring, abuse prevention, and diagnostics

These providers are allowed to process data only as needed to deliver the service, support requested features, protect the product, or comply with legal and billing obligations.

6. Payments

Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. Highlightly does not store full card numbers. We may receive and store billing status, plan, subscription identifiers, payment events, and related records needed to grant credits, manage access, handle support, and maintain accounting records.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser storage for authentication, app state, brand settings, saved sessions, media blobs, preferences, and security. You can control cookies through your browser, but some parts of the app may not work correctly without them.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers only as needed to run Highlightly, comply with law, prevent abuse, process payments, protect users, or complete actions you request.

9. Security

We use HTTPS, secure authentication, backend authorization checks, internal service protections, and access controls to protect the service. No online service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to keep data protected and collect only what the product needs.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, object to, or delete personal information. You can also update account and brand information in the product. To make a privacy request, contact us at support@highlightly.com.

11. Children

Highlightly is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
